Quectel L86 is a powerful, ultra compact and Industry Grade GPS + GLONASS (GNSS) module with ceramic patch antenna embedded on top of it. High performance of the MediaTek new generation GNSS chipset MT3333 positioning engine is packed in small LCC package footprint making L86 highly suitable for Industrial Applications where fast positioning, low power consumption and compactness in size are key requirements. Designed to be compatible with Quectel GPS L80 module it provides a flexible and scalable platform for migrating from GPS to GNSS.
L86 supports automatic antenna switching function. By default L86 supports internal patch antenna but it can also support external active antenna option. Once external active antenna is connected, L86 automatically switches from internal antenna mode to external antenna. If external antenna is removed, L86 switches back to internal antenna mode. The switching function is automatic and it continues positioning during the switching process.
L86 offers highest performance for meeting tough industrial application requirements by utilizing advanced AGPS called EASY™ and proven AlwaysLocate™ technology. Using EASY™ technology L86 can quickly fix position at even low signal conditions; requiring low power consumption by calculating and predicting orbits automatically using the ephemeris data (up to 3 days) stored in internal memory. With AlwaysLocate™ technology, L86 can smartly adjust the on/off time to achieve balance between positioning accuracy and power consumption according to the environmental and motion conditions.
L86 performances exceptionally well both in acquisition and tracking; small size, low power, high sensitivity and precision, internal and external Antenna options makes it preferred choice for a range of M2M applications such as Vehicle Tracking System, Personal Tracker, portable devices, automotive, industrial PDA etc.
